Step#8: Installing Your Opt-in Box on your Blog

If your blog is “widget-enabled”, check out this way of installing Aweber code: Integrating Wordpress with Aweber

Once you have your emailing list setup with an autoresponder, and hopefully by now even a simple sequence of emails ready to be triggered every time someone enters their details, you just need the optin form or “box” on your blog.

This is probably the most challenging thing to do out of all these startup videos for anyone just getting into online marketing, so don’t get disheartened if you have some sort of ‘code mishap’. Mistakes are easily rectified.

This video takes you through manually installing the opt-in form code by editing the raw theme code of the “classic” template. If you use a different template and can’t work out from this video how to do it, leave a comment.

Just what I needed to get my opt-in form going. Although I was able to understand the html deletions at the end I was wondering if the java-script option wouldn’t be easier. Great work.

    Thanks

The javascript option can be easier, but I noticed that with some templates (depending on where you want it), the form goes over the edges of the column and needs tweaking slightly to look right.

Unfortunately, this isn’t possible with the javascript code, but can be done with HTML, so I went for showing that way.

It might be worth copying both the javascript and HTML from Aweber - and try the javascript version first. It might look great and you don’t need all the HTML form code. If not, follow the video to make a few little alterations. Glad you found it useful though.
