The Fastest Way to Start an Internet Business Is Not the Answer to Long Term Success

How many times have you heard this ?

“You don’t even need a website… we’ll provide it for you. You don’t need any technical skills.
All you need to get going is to follow our action plan.”

Fast start rocket

And these kind of promises are not necessarily BS… you can get started with replicated websites, zero technical skills. It’s also a good idea to follow an action plan too.

But these are not short cuts to a successful online business. These are short cuts to getting started. There’s a big difference.

Depending on where you want to go, you will have to move this on from getting your toe in the water to building up to be a long distance swimmer.

Content is Everything…

The fact is everything on the web is driven by content…

ALL successful Internet marketers create their own content on their own websites. By content I mean audio, video, blog posts, articles, information products, books, cds, dvds, and websites others can use to sell more of their products.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting for one minute you need all this to get started. Use any “shortcuts” you like if it means you getting started. But get started with your eyes open.

Understand that marketing online is all about communicating persuasively with your target audience. The sooner you start doing this the better.

Here’s a few “idea generators”…

  • What would you say to your target audience if you had 1000 of them in a room listening to you for an hour ?
  • The overall purpose of your business…what problems do you solve ?
  • What unique ideas/twists you have ?
  • What angle/persuasive stories can you create ?
  • You have to express yourself and your value to the world…

Ok, that may sound scary but I don’t think it’s overstated if you intend to become successful.

    Want proof ?

Look at every successful person you know of…and think about the impact they have on people with their “content”… this includes presentations, public speaking, books, websites, blogs, podcasts, cds, dvds, etc..

Look at high profile marketers. They have a range of stuff out there including signature products, and other stuff they are known for. If you think this only applies to “celebrity” marketers, look at successful people who aren’t well known speakers and trainers… they still have a tremendous positive impact on people with their ideas, thoughts, insights, guidance, etc…

    Here’s the thing…

Whatever level you’re at in this game, you have to figure out who you are, what you stand for and what difference you can make…

And this is why you should take this seriously:

    The masses can’t/won’t do this…
    The majority won’t take action
Most won’t go beyond dabbling with “done 4 you” systems and replicated websites…

When you get to the next level of actually thinking about what you’re doing on the web, using the Internet in the way people understand, respect, and respond to; coming up with your own ideas, and original thoughts you’re in a game with fewer players which means less competition from the hordes of people that were just like you when you first started.

OTHER peoples’ systems and websites can get you started.

YOUR thoughts, unique insights and ideas will take you to the next level…

    Take it up a notch
